Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?

Image
After writing about the Indian version of the show I took the test on the fox network site. And I have the certificate to prove it ;). Thought I don't live in New York and I took the test in 2008 and not 2007. Apart from those mistakes I am so much smarter than a 5th grader, or am I? Just made me realize how little I know or care about social studies and history. I always ended up taking questions about science and maths. The two three times I choose social studies or history I ended up giving the wrong answer. The concept of the show is nice and would go well with the Indian audience who seem to be having an overdose of the reality tv shows, and one more would not hurt.

Kya aap panchvi paas se tej hai?

UPDATE: You can play the game online at http://www.fox.com/areyousmarter/features/ . I played it and here are my results . कया आप पांचवी पास से तेज हैं? / Kya aap panchvi paas se tej hai? is an Indian version of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? and would be hosted by Shahrukh Khan. Now I am not really talking about how great the program is going to be or going to harp about the host. I just like the clever marketing technique by the company developing the show in India. In most states in India lottery is illegal, but paying money using premium SMS is not. These days they have this clever little advert on the Star Network channels which asks users to SMS the answer to a simple question to get on the program. Now the adverts been playing for a month with a new question everyday. And they entice you with a million dollar prize. You need to send the SMS on a premium number, so its almost like an underground lottery with dreams of a million dollars. Even if they get a million SMS's ...

Who is Silky Kumar?

If Silky Kumar ever becomes a phenomena, I just hope he does not . But incase he does it would just go to prove that just about anything can be made famous if there is enough publicity. Even if the whole idea is crap, with the right PR and advertising anything can be made famous. Here is the debut video of Silky Kumar . I am still hoping its a bad joke but then you never know. At first I thought Himesh Reshammiya and Rakhi Sawant were some kind of a joke but boy was I wrong or what. Technorati Tags: rant , rakhi , silky , kumar , mtv india ,

Yeh! Pepsi TV kya hai? / What is Pepsi TV?

Again this is not a tech post, its something I was trying to figure out since I saw the advert on TV. And finally I guess I got my answer on CNBC, "I guess" 'cause I don't think the host was too sure but anyhow, Pepsi is not really launching a new channel all they are doing is to promote Pepsi while you drink TV. So nothing earth shattering there, but lets see how that advert turns out to be. The other advert on these days is the Marinda advert, "Mouth ka sahi use karo" or something like that. That advert is pathetic in every possible sense. It is one of the worst adverts I have seen on TV. It just shows the actor like he is an arrogant idiot too full of himself. I don't mean that the actor is arrogant but the advert just shows it that way. With all these adverts I cannot forget the new Coke advert with Ashwariya Rai, I really don't get that advert. Atleast that advert is not targeted towards me or people whome I know. It looks like a cheap advert d...

Red Bull won't give you any wings :)

This is just something I thought I had to write about. I really liked the advert of Red Bull energy drink, with the special reference to the Red Bull gives your wings. I had to try it out, so I shelled out Rs. 75 for one can while a normal can of soft drink costs Rs. 20+. I tried it out I did not get any wings but yeh! I did have to run to the toilet as i got an upset tummy. I kept waiting for the wings to appear but nothing happend no extra surge of energy. Its a nice way to promote your drink but I don't plan to drink it again even if was for Rs. 15 a can. It was not the best tasting drink I have had so far.
